Chris Kim ’14 opened his season with two pins for the Panthers.

Yesterday, the Edgemont Wrestling team scored victories in the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Section 1 Dual Meet Wrestling Championships and will now face the Nanuet Golden Knights in the Championship Finals. The Panthers will host the Championship Finals at Edgemont high school next Wednesday at 4:30pm. This is the third consecutive year that the Panthers wrestling team has made it to the finals and faced Nanuet. The Golden Knights have won the last two meetings. Nanuet was also winner of the last two Sectional Championships, the post season tournament. Performance in the Section 1 Dual Meet Tournament has traditionally been a good indicator of post-season performance.

History aside, Coach Pete Jacobson of Edgemont is proud of his current team and is looking forward to a strong finish. He states, “Our guys wrestled hard yesterday from the top to the bottom of our line-up. Every guy was prepared and every guy stepped up. More importantly we got a good look at certain guys in certain positions and situations and can go back to the training room with a more focused approach on how to improve. It’s all about where we finish the season!”
